Lately I've been seeing articles on how to be Happy and it seemed like a cheerful exercise to bring them together in one spot. Not exactly news, but it must be on people's minds- what makes one happy or how can we be happier? Being the the present moment is one suggested answer. Having a task that keeps you occupied so your mind doesn't wander, this researcher found people are not as happy when their mind is drifting.
"When are humans most happy? To gather data on this question, Matt Killingsworth built an app, Track Your Happiness, that let people report their feelings in real time. Among the surprising results: We're often happiest when we're lost in the moment." Want to be happier? Stay in the moment
Once I read that the brain enters into a zone where you can really get into a deeper rest by doing certain activities that make you close off everything else- playing music, engaging in some form of art, probably writing (not a grocery list, but your newest novel or personal diary), and reading. Any activity that takes you mentally "away". This is probably why staying engaged in an activity helps make one happy, also wandering thoughts are sometimes wild things that don't behave.
If you want a more detailed and helpful tool this Infographic is great- I think worth going over several times
and printing out! Perhaps it is destined for my most important place- my refrigerator- the place to put the most important reminders for daily living! Infographic: Share Happiness
